At the time I was having repetitive shoulder injuries which was causing me to take time off training which was getting me down. I had been an athlete at such a high standard for so long, so it frustrated me being off training.
Mike worked his joint mobility therapy on me and freed up all my joints improving my movement and he then put me on a rehab performance program to strengthen my entire body. “Mike has been my Personal Trainer for a few months now. When we started I had a reasonable level of fitness but wanted to improve my strength and conditioning. Mike created a tailor made work out program for me to suit my needs. During the time we've been working together he's kept me motivated and tweaked the sessions as we've gone along for various purposes. If at any stage I feel my body start to complain Mike is great at sorting out the niggles and fixing me, more so than any other PT I’ve worked with before. He also gives a great deal of advice and exercises I can/need to do at home to ensure my targets are met and my body is able to cope with the intense strength training. Some of this advice relates to my diet, which I’ve learnt is a key thing to control if you want to achieve/exceed your goals.

“I have had serious back problems for about 25 years, caused by years of building and landscaping work. In my youth, I always worked too hard and too fast, without giving any thought to the care of my body. I have been rushed to hospital on three occasions with severe spasms in my back. I have changed jobs and seen an osteopath for two years. My back just continued getting worse. I am continually pulling muscles in my back and in the past year alone have been laid up in bed with spasms at least six times. Each of these times has about a three-four week recovery time. I live in constant fear of my back ‘going’ and am now as weak in this area as a kitten.
Mike told me that I can have a life free from pain. Sounded too good to be true. However, beginning with extremely careful and light work we slowly began building up my core strength. Very gently, very carefully he worked with me, rebuilding my trust in my back. I quickly realised that I have been led by my fear and have avoided using it more and more. The lack of use has made it so weak that any use makes me hurt it, so it is never getting the chance to recover. Working with Mike we discover muscular imbalances and posture problems which are exasperating the problem.
It is now three months since I began working with Mike and I am feeling strong and confident again. I am aware of my back use it with care. When I feel it now I know how to care for and trust it, rather than being afraid.
