After only 10 years or more of yo-yo-ing in and out of shape through the seasons I just need to point out that we all have our expectations of what we believe we should be. My idea of chubby could be completely different to your idea of chubby.
My family and I are what other fitness professionals may label endo-mesomorph. This simply means we Johnson's gain fat and muscle very easy. As far as I'm aware of from looking at my family's holiday snaps from as far back as the 60's no one in my family has ever had the athletic six pack look. My dad and I have always trained for this type of look but everytime we reached our personal best something would send us back a few steps before reaching a low point. Each low point was followed by a "right, that's it" response! The yo-yo effect! To reach a new personal best we would then sacrifice the things we enjoyed mainly being in the food department. To us gaining shape was almost more important than life itself. So clean eating, cutting out the carbs, boring meals and protein shakes with hard core training hand in hand would be the way forwards. It would be serious will power to not slip to my sweet tooth desires. One slip would be fatal. A bad situation always led to slips. I would eat sweet junk food as if it would answer all my problems.
Being a fitness professional it's not your fitness that sells your training, it's all about your look. Most people won't believe you are great at what you do unless you look the part. So being a yo-yo-er myself I have had to go deeper than anyone I know of. Your lifestyle is crucial. Your relationship with food is crucial. Your motivation to training is crucial. IT'S CRUCIAL that all flows well and you enjoy it! I have learned to enjoy almost everything I do and because of that no matter what knock backs I get I find a non self destructive solution forwards. If you want fat loss results that you can keep forever then start learning how to make it happen and stop sacrificing. Make smarter healthier switches!
LIFESTYLE- Create what you think you will like. Move towards what you want. Take simple actions weekly. Create or if you prefer... make time. There's no excuse. Life is short!
ENJOYABLE EATING- Be creative, be organised, get stuck in. Follow our smoothie recipes and meal plans. Eating pizza, burgers, kebabs, pies, chips are not forbidden if you find a homemade healthier solution ;-)
MOTIVATIONAL TRAINING- Find your best time to train and do what you enjoy! Whether it's weights or swimming. Just enjoy being active! "If you can't fly, then run, if you can't run, then walk, if you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forwards"- Martin Luther King JR
Here's to consistant success,
