In the last 10 years I have spent an absolute fortune on protein powders, creatine, fat burning tablets, vitamin and mineral tablets, amino acids, omega 3 tablets... I have tried most of the well claimed leading brands. Some of the supplements I took were reasonably effective- whether that was purely psychological or not I don't know. Some were totally pants!
My goals have always been simple- feel great, shape up and get stronger. Recently, I have spent a lot of time doing research into studies that have been done on pro-biotics, as there has been a mega buzz from some of the body transformation guru's of the industry. I tend to eat healthily anyway but my downfall was always my sweet tooth.
Just a few months ago, I started learning about raw foods and after the time I spent learning about pro-biotics I found an interesting link in gut health. The takeaway lessons I have are:
If you feed your gut with high quality nutrition from natural organic raw food you will help the body eliminate harmful toxins that can cause unwanted fat storage.
So I started experimenting with making my own raw veggie shakes, which included spinach, ginger, lime, avocado, cucumber and coconut milk.
After just one week of two shakes a day with my normal meals I was feeling extremely vibrant, and as crazy as it sounds myself and my wife were seeing an interesting change in my physique. YES! IN JUST ONE WEEK! I do have to warn you, raw veggie juices can be highly addictive because you feel so vibrant so quickly and they actually suppress my need for the sweet stuff.
Is it in our minds that raw veggie juice can be so effective? My answer is simple: Does it matter? I'm getting the results I want, without spending a fortune on useless cleverly marketed products. After all, nature knows best right?
Do you have any interesting raw veggies juices you would recommend? If you have never tried raw veggie juices and you're not allergic to any of the ingredients, I challenge you to try this twice a day for seven days:
1 cup coconut milk
1 lime zest and juice
Blend it all up in a 'nutri-bullet' style blender and enjoy!
