If I thought last week was a wake up call by god today was an eruption!
A strong start in my early preparation. My jumping spins were crisp and my spinning jump kicks felt light but deadly. I felt incredibly balanced and powerful.
My focus and hunger makes me feel unstoppable. I almost feel like I need to sign a waiver to say If I die early in age I did it doing what I loved with no regrets with the hope that the people I leave behind are inspired by me to be focused and aggressive in going out there and achieving what they can. The worlds a tough place and can beat you down. My kickboxing coach is phenomenol. He's conditioning me to be a tough fighter not just in the ring but outside of it. He's inspiring.
Today hurt like hell. I wanted to cry like a baby on so many occasions when he lightly punched me in the solar plex and when he kicked gently through my mid section, but something kept clicking in my head. I wanted to show Phil I was going to keep coming at him no matter how much pain I was in. For some reason I said out loud too many times "come on then". Call it nerves and a bad call haha. Lesson learned? Phil certainly stepped it up and put me through hell. Baptism under fire!
I learned today that I need daily controlled constructive knocking in to toughen up. I have crazy potential to be a great fighter as I have an ability to take a compliment or criticism in whatever form but immediately switch back to a timeless zone to perform an effective action. Bruce Lee once said, "Empty your mind. Be formless. Shapeless. Like water. You put water into a cup. It becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle. It becomes the bottle. You put water into a teapot. It becomes the teapot. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend".
My kick to punch combos are flowing with power. It's coming together. When I watch back the recorded clips I do feel achievement. By all means the journey is well underway.
Thank you to my kickboxing guru Phil of Pheonix Freestyle Martial Arts. A huge thank you to my loving strong wife who was happy to see me survive the session today! I think :-P And a big thank you to you for reading my blog and following my kickboxing journey.
Next week I face my biggest challenges yet where I'll be preparing to dig deeper with more pain and more gain to take me to ring fighting levels.
Here's to fighting to thrive,
