A special occasion today. It was one of my close mate's birthday bash! He loves to push himself and he has recently really got stuck into his mountain biking! So today he invited me and a friend to join him on some crazy bike trails.
It was my first time on a 'real' bike in a long long time. And my first time ever on a mountain bike trail.
As I write this blog I find enlightment in knowing that some parts of my body are still able to function. My legs feel absolutely smashed. What an incredible day! I had so much fun taking on extremely challenging terrains. I have never seen so much beautiful woodland. After 5 hours or more of riding with so many obstacles all the fun and focus on keeping balance has caught up with me now. If you want to improve your fitness I would highly recommend mounting biking!
When I started I felt clumsy and awkward but towards the end I felt like I could hold my own. I learned so much about balance and control. My abs, legs and arms are on fire. I kickbox, play rugby, do extreme running, weightlift and participate regularly in calesthenics and other physically demanding sports but today was a completely new experience and new feeling.
Your body adapts to new challenges particularly ones that can be extreme. Your focus makes the extreme do able. When you're focused and achieving new skills it's a buzzing experience. One that is priceless!
I can't wait for my next mounting biking challenge!
