Fitness can be a maze! I'm sure you'll agree. So many mixed messages from media gurus. It's easy to get lost with so many different routes. Does it get any easier when you read the latest news?

Rewind- WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE GENERAL FITNESS MEANS?
CAN YOU GO INTO MORE DETAIL?
BETTER CARDIO? (usual response I get).
For some reason most people believe general fitness is purely a cardio thing. Fitness does not mean cardio.
Lets be clearer. Starting with a definition of the word fitness and the word general.
Definition of the word 'Fitness'.
1/ the condition of being physically fit and healthy...
2/ the quality of being suitable to fulfil a particular role or task...
Definition of the word 'General'.
Well lets cut to the point it's a word to describe something widespread, nothing specific and holds no weight.

So GENERAL FITNESS A.K.A COMPONENTS OF FITNESS
So you want all of these yes? YES
OK but for what?????
Going back to our earlier point about noise. What's useful advice?
If your a big family man and you have children who like playing ball games for hours and you'd love to be able to keep up with them but your back gives in then 3 minutes of high intensity cardio a day is incomplete advice as it's just one of the 6 VITAL components of fitness that I stated above. Do you see where we are going with this?
DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH ADVICE is functional (useful) to YOUR purpose (YOUR WHY) in life.
Why do you need all the of above components?
Do you have a family to keep up with?
Do you play a competitive sport?
Do you work in a tough environment?
What does your life demand or ask of you?
If you don't be more specific about details this will be your widespread general fitness program.
GENERAL FITNESS PROGRAM
For anyone human between the ages of 0-120 years old, male or female, sporty or not, beginners and elite.
Is this program going to be beneficial?
I don't want to make any more waves here but where's the purpose of your goal. Be specific about what you need and why. If you don't have the knowledge to train for these goals at least with a clear vision of your goal a fitness professional will be able to create a program that gets you what you so desperately seek. All are an absolute must to achieve your goal. If you focus on one component then you risk an imbalance that could result in decreased fitness. Imbalances can lead to injuries. Injuries are also common when exercise methods are not functional. Your body is a masterpiece designed to move your mass three dimensionally with momentum and gravitational forces. Eg. You want to tie your laces so you need to be able to squat down low. Your body is designed to achieve this. Struggling? There's hope with functional training.
