Today.. Faster Focus
I attempted to time my 100m sprint and I'm not 100% convinced with my exact time. To make this test fair I will ask someone else to time me. I completed 100m in 12 point something seconds. I under performed in my fitness test. I scored 842 points, which was 158 points under my target. I really struggled. It was as if I was trying too hard. I completed 13 functional challenging bodyweight exercises for 60 seconds per exercise. The idea was to perform elite variations for as many reps possible. I call this test Unlucky 13. Rest wise I only got 30-45 seconds per exercise. There was a silver lining to the session. I stopped trying so hard and relaxed more with my running practice. Things started to click into place. My arm drive, hip drive and power in my lower legs is helping me to move more efficiently and faster. It was an empowering end to my faster lesson. I can't wait to see how I will do in next weeks test.
5 new healthy smoothies for next week to try. I introduced more carbs this week due to higher demands in my workout programs. Getting the balance right is vital if I want to avoid fat gain. I had a 4 site skin fold test and the results weren't useful as they came back at 0mm of fat! On a scales version measuring internal fat displayed 24.3%. I think the most useful test is going to be what I see in the mirror. In my opinion I have alot more work to do before I have the fitness model look I want.
I have been practicing my 1 arm negative pull ups. The idea is really contract and slow down the descend from the bar. My pull up bar is in my living room so I'm doing the reps little and often. I have playing around alot with different core stablising holds so I should see my human flag hold really come on. Deadlift practice wise I have been playing around with heavy tractor tyres. I wiĺl need to a 5 rep max test next week.
I'm still in early stages of my program. I have been playing around alot and experimenting. Later this week I get serious with a training plan. I'll share all next week. I'm making good progress already but I'll need to step up my game! I have some deadlines for my Faster, Leaner, Stronger goals. 2016 is going to be my best year yet because my training is superb!
INTRO FROM PART 1
Every Thursday I post a Faster, Leaner, Stronger blog. I will share what I'm up to and how I'm getting on. I'm not your traditional personal trainer but I do like to use old school, new school and MJ methods to beast mode progress! I like to be different but more importantly I love to challenge proven methods and innovate them for greater gains.
I was always a short strong slightly chubby but very sporty kid growing up. I was fast but never had the speed or technique to break 12 seconds over 100m. I never had the six pack look and I fell out of love with my heavy lifting programs before I had the chance to see my true potential. My best deadlift was 180k for 5 reps. I play rugby, I kickbox and I enjoy other forms of martial arts. Being competitive there's no better edge than great training.
THIS IS MY JOURNEY! I WANT TO BE FASTER, LEANER, STRONGER! If you want the same then follow me and we can grow together.
