For the past 3 years I have been learning more and more about energy. Why? Because every ounce of energy I spend I want it to be spent being as useful as possible.
We all grow up with the opportunity of achieving something spectacular but many us in a lifetime never reach our full potential. Is it because we don't have enough energy or maybe because we waste so much?
An old mentor of mine said that to achieve great experience it takes years. My current mentor says it's not years, quantity of time is irrelevant. It's about the quality of time! Some master their trades in 20 years and some in 2 years, some never do. The key is being open minded, agile but more importantly being able to do the back to basics such as breathing.
You could be powerful beyond ...
Did you know that one of the theories behind human evolution was down to our ability to hunt, eat and use calories (energy). Experts who spend their life studying clues of how our ancestors lived and adapted say the human brain evolved with the high calories provided by cooked meats. So calories are essential to our basic human function, let alone our desires to achieve self potential. Every calorie makes a difference. It's possible that your run of the mill caveman in paleo times got smarter and found less calorie consuming ways of hunting. This would mean our brains have the energy needed to evolve further again! So where can you save calories?
I could just eat more. This is like saying because I'm spending lots of money I'll just need to earn more. If you eat more than you can physically cope with then you're heading towards a health issue. The answer lies in efficiency. I'll cut to the chase to save your much needed energy! A breathing discipline known as Pranayama- extension of breath is an extremely effective way of lowering your stress levels, saving you energy, and enhancing your peak performance zones. Prana means life force/vital energy and ayama means to extend or draw out.
In a day the average human roughly takes 23,040 breathes. If you weighed about 11 stone/ 70 kilos/ 154lbs then approximately each day you spend 1,552 calories just breathing alone. The more you weigh the more calories your body spends. Also other things to take into account such as health status, male or female, age, lifestyles, activities, physical abilities and so on will effect calorie costs.
Back to basics, a golden opportunity...
We are all about being wise with energy and creating great use of what we have in front of us!
Our response to life, known as behaviour, dictates our breathing abilities. We learn behaviours from an early age and this results in us developing useful and not so useful habits.
TAKE NOTES: When you breathe in do you inflate your chest or your belly?
When you get nervous or sad have you noticed how you breath at those moments?
How about when you're scared, excited or uncomfortable?
Take notes because a Pranayama program could help you not only survive but thrive in todays new world.
Try MY beginner-advanced programs- I will share my programs with you later in the week.
Here's to enjoying every breath,
