Having Your Cake And Eating It V.2
Click the link above to see my hard learned lesson from last week.
Those of you who know me know that I'm healthy 99.9% of the time. I have come along way since my days of chocolate binge eating!
THE OLD DAYS...
I use to buy packets and packets of Reeses Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups. Oh and probably some salt and vinegar chip sticks too. Maybe a few more different brands of chocolate bars with a small bag or 2 of frazzles. I'd scoff the lot too. It was disgusting. I binged on unhealthy food when I was stressed or bored which was at least once or twice a week.
Last week I ate my first bit of unhealthy food and consumed more alcohol than I could deal with resulting in me feeling really horrible. I have been so called clean eating for months!
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE...
Not all doom and gloom though as I wasn't a patch of my former uncontrollable self. The Mike Johnson this year is incredibly stronger than he was last year and any other year too. I have discipline these days. I have become one of those ennoying people who say no to eating a whole bar in chocolate in one sitting.
CONTROL YOUR CAKE..
If you're are serious about being healthy and in great shape know this! It's possible that you can do so with a controlled existance of the unhealthy stuff. And I mean controlled!
If you eat a little bit of crap once a week and maybe have a drink or two don't threat. Your six pack dreams are not over unless your an unhealthy food junkie in which case you need to read our next weeks volume 4 Having Your Cake And Eating It blog where I will show you how to make the addictive unhealthy food become healthier ;-)
Have Your Cake but don't scoff! Enjoy!
Big changes under way!!!!

Personal Training and BootCamps taking off!!!
It's been, well...one hell of a week!!!!!
Thank you those of you who continue to support us and those of you believing in us, reading our blogs, adding valuable inputs and being so damn inspiring!!!!!!!!!
In 10 years time alot of people are going to be proved seriously wrong. So many already have been. When I started a personal trainer course 5 years ago my parents said it was a bad idea and told me to spend the little money I had on paying off my debts but I believed in me when nobody did. And Ill keep proving people wrong until I take my last breath.
Today.. Faster Focus
I attempted to time my 100m sprint and I'm not 100% convinced with my exact time. To make this test fair I will ask someone else to time me. I completed 100m in 12 point something seconds. I under performed in my fitness test. I scored 842 points, which was 158 points under my target. I really struggled. It was as if I was trying too hard. I completed 13 functional challenging bodyweight exercises for 60 seconds per exercise. The idea was to perform elite variations for as many reps possible. I call this test Unlucky 13. Rest wise I only got 30-45 seconds per exercise. There was a silver lining to the session. I stopped trying so hard and relaxed more with my running practice. Things started to click into place. My arm drive, hip drive and power in my lower legs is helping me to move more efficiently and faster. It was an empowering end to my faster lesson. I can't wait to see how I will do in next weeks test.
5 new healthy smoothies for next week to try. I introduced more carbs this week due to higher demands in my workout programs. Getting the balance right is vital if I want to avoid fat gain. I had a 4 site skin fold test and the results weren't useful as they came back at 0mm of fat! On a scales version measuring internal fat displayed 24.3%. I think the most useful test is going to be what I see in the mirror. In my opinion I have alot more work to do before I have the fitness model look I want.
I have been practicing my 1 arm negative pull ups. The idea is really contract and slow down the descend from the bar. My pull up bar is in my living room so I'm doing the reps little and often. I have playing around alot with different core stablising holds so I should see my human flag hold really come on. Deadlift practice wise I have been playing around with heavy tractor tyres. I wiĺl need to a 5 rep max test next week.
I'm still in early stages of my program. I have been playing around alot and experimenting. Later this week I get serious with a training plan. I'll share all next week. I'm making good progress already but I'll need to step up my game! I have some deadlines for my Faster, Leaner, Stronger goals. 2016 is going to be my best year yet because my training is superb!
INTRO FROM PART 1
Every Thursday I post a Faster, Leaner, Stronger blog. I will share what I'm up to and how I'm getting on. I'm not your traditional personal trainer but I do like to use old school, new school and MJ methods to beast mode progress! I like to be different but more importantly I love to challenge proven methods and innovate them for greater gains.
I was always a short strong slightly chubby but very sporty kid growing up. I was fast but never had the speed or technique to break 12 seconds over 100m. I never had the six pack look and I fell out of love with my heavy lifting programs before I had the chance to see my true potential. My best deadlift was 180k for 5 reps. I play rugby, I kickbox and I enjoy other forms of martial arts. Being competitive there's no better edge than great training.
THIS IS MY JOURNEY! I WANT TO BE FASTER, LEANER, STRONGER! If you want the same then follow me and we can grow together.

What do you want Wednesdays?
This weeks request;
"A blog on weightloss, got exercise and motivation cracked but willpower is my biggest enemy of choosing the right foods, I feel great but would like to always choose the right foods and not sabotage myself!"- anonymous
The topic of nutrition for good looking bodies has played a huge role in my life since I was a little boy. My father gave me endless nutrition lectures about gaining lean muscle.
Professionally I have researched and studied this subject hardcore for the past 5 painful years.
These are my current views. What nature grows is best. Who do you trust more, a greedy businessman capitilising on peoples good nature so he/she can live an outrageous life of material luxury? or nature itself that has been around helping you adapt since the age of time?
The right food is what nature provides.
Best types of foods for weight loss;
Vegetables, nuts, legumes, seeds, meat, poultry, fish, seafood.
* Fruits are also great but I always balance them out in high protein, high fat meals as I have learned that a high sugar blast can increase someones weight and body fat. The body needs balance.
Okay so eating healthier does help weight loss but don't think it's as simple as stuffing your face with the good stuff. You need to control your portions. It's easy when you plan your meals because you can track and tweak your plan every 2-4 weeks. You tweak your plan if it's not working for you. Before writing a new plan you need to find out why it wasn't working. For example; Your body has stayed the same? Or your not enjoying life on your plan?
You are on a lower calorie diet and your eating healthy! but your body looks no different? Exercise has been cracked so what now?
Here's my MJ Method.
MJ FOOD LABELLING FAT LOSS FORMULA!
If the score is a plus figure then add more healthy fats. If the score is a minus score then RESULT! just keep organized with your plan. My nans making quality progress with this method. My nan looks the healthiest I have ever seen her. And she looks slimmer and younger than I have ever seen her!

Every Tuesday we share with you our favourite exercise of the week.
Our fans, clients, friends, family and my wife and I throw out our favourite exercises and the reason for it. The best ones get shared on this blog.
This week our client and friend Rachel came up with this full body burner, she named it Stretchy Spiderman!
Rachel came up with this whilst mucking about with her kids. The medball or any ball really can be used to not only increase shoulder and back core strength but can be used as a great distraction as you roll it from one hand to another. Try to roll a ball from side to side for 60 seconds whilst maintaining a strong hold with legs and feet raised. Rest for 30 seconds and complete another 60 seconds. Rest and complete once more until failure. YOU WILL BE A SWEATY MESS! Raise arms and legs by squeezing tighting your bum, lower back and shoulder blades. FEEL THE BURN!
YOUR TURN, BE CREATIVE!
What's your exercise of the week?

What is your ideal lifestyle? How would you live if you could choose?
Our ideal lifestyle is a work in progress. Follow our blog every Monday. We will share our ideal lifestyle with you. Maybe we could all build our ideal lifestyles and live our dreams together....
A much needed lazy day after a very exciting active weekend and week. We started with work from home. Food experimenting, emails, blogs and social media sharing, liking and catching up with friends. Followed by a classy bootcamp session with a fun lovely bunch of people and a late night personal training session with a potential sensational cricketer!
Being your own boss is the best thing in the world! Yes it's a risk but the rewards are unbeatable. You can design the life you want. It's not been easy and I have had more low points than high ones in the past 5 years but the high points out weigh the low ones.
Being your own boss is freedom. I still struggle but that's only because I'm paying off debts I spent on unnecessary business courses. If you live to your needs and you're a great people person all you need is the drive and passion to do something trully special.
Growing your own business is a risk worth taking. Keep learning, digging deep and loving what you do daily! My wife and I work together on our business Johnson's Family Fitness.
We are expecting a new arrival in 12 weeks. Our baby girl is on the way. How life will change as we become parents for the first time. I will have to dig deeper to secure a way of life for my growing family. Work plays a huge role in our ideal lifestyle. My wife Alice loves what she does most days and I love what I do everyday but as Alice goes on maternity there is more pressure than ever on me to deliver.
There is some really difficult decisions to think over and make over the next week. Potential life changers! It's not always about following your heart sometimes you have to follow your head. Survival is the first key to thrival.
